Problem: Difficulty in operating a door or window.
Cause: Warping of wood doors (Figure 1).
Solutions:
- Concrete pouring, drywall finishing and painting can cause high humidity levels. Provide ventilation during construction.
- Store doors flat unless they are pre-hung.
- Delay painting of exterior wood doors until the moisture content of the wood has stabilized. Seal the bottoms and tops of the doors to prevent moisture absorption.
