Problem: Noisy ventilation equipment.
Cause: Fan equipment
Solutions: Reduce transmission to other rooms.
- Use a better quality fan. Fans with low sone (noise rating) values are generally quieter.

Solutions:
- Install flexible couplings between the ducts and the ventilation equipment.
Cause: Ventilation equipment connected directly to the building's structure.
Solutions:
- Avoid connecting the equipment directly to the structure. Mount the equipment, heat recovery ventilator (HRV) or fan on vibration isolation blocks - rubber blocks or springs, as shown in Figures 1 & 2, available from most heating/appliance distributors, as well as online at Amazon.com (click on banner below article).
