Problem: Squeaking Hardwood Flooring - 2
Cause:
Inadequate fasteners.
Inadequate fasteners used for installation allow the hardwood strips to flex and thus squeak against one another.
Solutions:
Use proper nails or staples..

Many building codes require wood-strip flooring to be either nailed or stapled, depending upon the thickness of the flooring. Staples can only be used to fasten strip flooring that is not more than 5/16Prime; (8 mm) thick. Proper nail length and spacing depends upon the thickness of the finish flooring as detailed in Table 2.
